indie5 heats up December with the world premiere of U: The Comedy of Global Warming, a new multi-media play written and directed by Ian Leung.
U: The Comedy of Global Warming blends fiction and fact in search of truth and answers to a very big question. The story of an oil tycoon and a climate change refugee entangled in a dangerously funny love triangle interweaves with video recorded interviews featuring scientists from the University of Alberta, politicians from the federal, provincial and city legisla- tures, environmental activists and regular citizens - all talking about climate change. As the story hurtles toward a disastrous consequence, the documentary grapples to resolve the defin- ing issue of our age and save the day. U: is a ribald, funny and engaging mixture of information, entertainment, criticism and hope. Its companion website, www.albertaville.ca, will provide access to extended versions of the twenty-two inter- views that were conducted to make up part of the play.
